In 1982, Richard Widman, founded Charming Inns® as a labor of love. He began the company with the mission to help guests create special memories by providing exceptional service and honoring the unique histories of each of the one-of-a-kind properties. From our friendly staff to our unique services to the very feel of each of our properties, Charming Inns® always stays true to our core values: Family, Service, History, and Comfort.
Our History
From John Rutledge House Inn’s® noteworthy past as the home of a signer of the United States Constitution to Wentworth Mansion’s® many beautiful, historic features preserved in time, our properties provide an authentic glimpse into the prestigious history of our city.
Local Experts
There’s no place quite like the “Holy City”, with its historic charm, Southern warmth, and artistic culture, and our knowledgeable concierges will be more than happy to help you experience all of the must-see attractions, as and all of the secret, local spots.
True Southern Hospitality
Look up Southern hospitality in a dictionary and you might just find a photo of our friendly staff. With deluxe amenities—such as complimentary breakfast in bed—and courteous services—like our 24-hour concierges—you’ll feel right at home with Charming Inns®.
Family Owned and Operated
Since Charming Inns was founded in 1982, many employees that were once bellmen and concierges have since become important members of management, and the team has ultimately become a family, united by a shared love of Charleston.
To the Community
With a team of professionals that are more like friends and family than colleagues, it’s no surprise that Charming Inns® cares deeply about the community. We love to give back, whether through charitable efforts, such as our annual contributions to United Way, local partnerships, or employee engagement. We’re proud to be a part of the Charleston community.
