The Atlantic Cup

Mark your calendars! The Atlantic Cup, the longest offshore race in the Western Atlantic dedicated to Class40 boats, returns after a six-year hiatus. This year’s competition kicks off May 25th in Charleston, South Carolina and concludes June 7th in Portland, Maine. The course features a stop-over in Newport, Rhode Island, and replaces the traditional inshore series with a double-handed coastal racing format for 2024.

Weekend Wine Down

Where: Deep Water Vineyard | 6775 Bears Bluff Rd, Wadmalaw Island, SC

Escape to the vineyard for a day of fun, flavor, and community spirit! Sample delicious wines, draft meads, and other libations like beer, mimosas, bloody marys, and refreshing wine slushies (tastings begin at 10 AM). There will also be live music throughout the day by Krystal Halvorson and Willis & Breuner. Grab lunch from one of the food trucks, and don’t forget to browse unique gifts from local vendors while enjoying lawn games and a special blessing from a local clergy member. Proceeds benefit the local chapter of Folds of Honor, a national charity supporting families of fallen and disabled military service members. Reserve your parking spot in advance for just $10 per car (price jumps to $5 per person on the day of the event).

Calling all music lovers! Don’t miss Back Porch Jams at Firefly Distillery this Saturday, May 25th featuring The Midnight City, an alternative pop indie band from Charleston! Grab your tickets now at City Paper Tickets. The fun starts at 5:30pm (doors open) with music at 6:30pm. It’s an all-ages event (kids 12 & under are free!), perfect for a night under the stars. Bring your chairs and blankets, but please leave Fido and outside food/drinks at home. Food trucks will be on-site (Rocket Burger & Big Daddy’s Loco) to satisfy your cravings. Remember, the distillery closes at 4pm (last tasting at 3:30pm) and the concert is weather dependent. See you there!

Grand Opening: Medal of Honor Museum at Patriots Point

The Medal of Honor Museum located on the USS Yorktown in Charleston reopens its doors on May 25th, 2024 after a major renovation. This national museum tells the stories of America’s heroes, the Medal of Honor recipients. The grand opening celebration features meet-and-greets with Medal of Honor recipients, living history reenactors, and special giveaways. Museum admission grants access to both the Medal of Honor Museum and Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum.
